From the show notes:
"Inspired by the modernists in New York City, Fall is a sexy study of graphic lines, colors and textures pulled together with a fresh ingenue spirit.
Young, carefree and full of color. Ready to hop on a scooter and take on life in the big city. Something New York..."
It goes without saying (even though we've been saying it) that seeing a collection in person is a much different experience than seeing it only in pictures. To that somewhat obvious truism we'd add: seeing a world class and very established designer's collection is a treat all its own. Not just because of the level of design skill and the well-established aesthetic, but because everything is so polished and perfect and thought out. This was the first collection this week where we couldn't believe how quickly the runway show ended. All runway shows are way shorter than you would think, but we were enjoying looking at the bright takes on autumnal colors, the mixing of stripes and plaids, the urban-to-the-core styling of porkpie hats and socks with heels, the super-skinny pants, the knitwear, and the generally clean and youthful tone so much, that the show ended far too quickly for our taste. We could have sat there for another hour, happily tweeting the details of each look. As always with DKNY, the tone is sporty, wearable and pairable. This was definitely one of the highlights of the week for us.
Oh, and it helped when we walked up to the admission table to be greeted with "Are you Tom and Lorenzo? Go right in!" Brag? You're damn right we'll brag. We never claimed to be Mother Theresa here, you know.
