First lady Michelle Obama during TNT's "Christmas in Washington 2010" at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC. "Christmas in Washington 2010" airs on TNT December 17 at 8pm. Michelle Obama is wearing a vintage 1950s dress by Norman Norell.
Okay, that's pretty damn cool. Name a First Lady who wore a 6o-year old vintage dress to a public event. We've said it before and we'll say it again: she makes as many mistakes as she does good choices, but there hasn't been a First Lady as willing to take chances with her fashion in our lifetimes. That's why she's such a person of interest to the fashion community and it's why we cover her looks.
This time we'd say her risk-taking paid off. It's a perfect party dress for the holidays and it suits both her figure and her personal style. She really looks great.
We don't normally love full skirts on her, but it's got a ballerina feel to it that works for her and for the occasion.
And she's been rocking the big dangly earrings lately.
The girls look adorable too. Not exactly traditional Christmas dresses, but they've obviously adopted their mother's tendency to go sleeveless whenever the hell it suits them, tradition and expectations be damned.
